An unpleasant few days...

Our house is on lockdown - everyone has been or is in the throwes of a nasty bug. It started with Leda on Friday, then I woke up this morning just a mess, and this evening it hit Alan. I can barely stay awake long enough to get a drink let alone pick up the camera. So today you get a couple shots of the kids from earlier this week, and I will hope that the house rids itself of this nastiness tomorrow.

So Eleda has some sort of stomach bug that has resulted in half a bathtub's worth of thrown-up-on laundry. Poor thing was falling asleep sitting in her thrown-up-upon chair, so I made her a bed of towels on the living room floor where she has been comfortably napping for most of the day.

I don't quite understand why my littly lady is sleeping with both hands down her pants... inside her diaper... I guess maybe her hands are cold?

And I had to grab a shot of Ashton because he wasn't crying, and that really doesn't happen too often!

My reward for a terrible day...

Ugh, this has been quite a week. I don't know why, maybe it's because I have literally had an infant attached to me for 2 1/2 months, but I've been having a hard time with the kids this week. Ashton teases us now and then by sleeping through the night, so when he's up all night it hits me hard. Plus Eleda seems to have given up her nap (she only has it about once a week) and Alan has been out almost every night... mommy hasn't gotten a break.


Anyways, this morning Ashton was crying non-stop which seems to be the norm. I opened his diaper an within moments he peed AND pooped on me... and then moments later as I was getting him undressed, he spat up on me. It was super.


So I got him cleaned up, and as I was about to head to the bedroom for fresh clothes (for both of us) the light totally hit his eyes and I grabbed the camera. My little guy hasn't been much of a smiler, probably because he's too busy crying. I guess it was my lucky day...

That's right... our first smile caught on camera!!!

Oh, and I've clearly proven my worthiness... Eleda is actually napping!

The fact that I didn't run away today is an accomplishment, so we're just going to call it. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Throwback to summer...

One day late last summer, Alan put up the tent in the backyard so he & Eleda could play. She brought out her new Strawberry Shortcake sleeping bag and much fun was had.

So Thursday was 40% off at the Gap. Like, the whole store. So I went a little crazy, but the kids need clothes, right? As soon as I saw these sunglasses I knew Leda needed them... she wore them all over the mall and hasn't really taken them off since.

We started the romantic day off with heart shaped pancakes...

And finished it off with a romantic dinner complete with an amazing Cotes-du-Rhone red.

Lol... Alan and I sat down to our mustard & rosemary crusted prime rib with loaded potatoes and sauteed veggies, and all of a sudden he started laughing hysterically at the way the monkey had landed when I threw it. Too funny. It was a happy valentine's day all around.

Baby (Ashton) Jesus

Being Shrove Tuesday has me thinking about my faith, and in that vein I thought I would post some photos of Ashton playing baby Jesus on Christmas Eve at church. He did not care one bit for that manger, so Eleda tried to kiss him better. Man I love my kids.

Family day!

Today is family day, and since I don't usually get the day off (I work for a federally regulated company) we decided to make the most of it. These pics aren't from today, but since we went skating today I thought I would share Eleda's first skating photos.

Since it's Valentines day, I thought I'd post one of the most loving things I've had the pleasure of witnessing... My hubby dancing with his little girl. I swear as I look at these photos I can see them dancing on her wedding day... and then the waterworks start...

Art project...

Auntie Bonnie came over a few days before Christmas... she always brings the coolest gifts! This one was a little ceramic piggy bank that you paint and it somehow magically glazes itself. Eleda & Alan sprawled out on the living room floor amidst the piles of toys. Leda was thrilled not only to be naked but also to paint!
